Conference Overview

The Journal of Educational Media & Library Sciences (JoEMLS) (previously known as The Bulletin of Educational Media Science and Journal of Educational Media Science), established for 4 decades since March, 1970, is one of the few journals which witnessed the progress of the development of academic journals in Taiwan. JoEMLS has possessed fruitful results by covering various subjects as well as being included in famous international databases. JoEMLS has built up the ASPERS system for online submission and peer review. JoEMLS also has its own "Retrospective Archive" which collects articles from our first volume (March, 1970) to Volume 40, Number 2 (December, 2002) with the total of 165 issues, 1,436 articles. JoEMLS further develops the system, “ForeSight,” for e-printing the upcoming issue. In addition, one of JoEMLS’s editorial policies, Hybrid OA, has become a model for Taiwanese academic publication and communication.

It is the 40th anniversary of JoEMLS during 2010-2011. Reviewing the development of past decades of the Journal, we realize hat JoEMLS represents the development of “Information and Library Science” and “Instructional Technology” in Taiwan. In the meantime, “Digital Media” has become a significant issue for the education of Library Science and general academic communities. Based on our history and academic purpose, the Department of Information and Library Science at Tamkang University holds this academic conference with the cooperation of the editorial board of JoEMLS.
